Introducing Yak-Soo, Tufenkian

Image

Tufenkian is introducing a new type of high-pile carpet to the market.  Called Yak-Soo, the new rugs not only offer a lush and complex texture, but are also made with an entirely organic process.

Yak-Soo carpets are as natural as rugs can get.  Tufenkian artisans created Yak-Soo rugs by adapting Tsukten, a traditional Tibetan style of fabric-weaving that produces luxuriously plush fabrics. Using this process, the artisans weave with thick, unbleached yarn, rich in lanolin that is colored using vegetable-based dyes, resulting in deep, natural color variations and are, of course made using an entirely hand-made process. The end result is a rug with unmatched depth and texture that is also exceptionally inviting to the touch.

Tufenkian’s time-honored processes ensure that each Yak-Soo carpet is a distinct work of unparalleled beauty and enduring quality.  In addition, these practices reflect Tufenkian’s long-standing dedication to social and environmental responsibility.  Since its founding, Tufenkian has taken exceptional steps to improve the environmental and humanitarian conditions of the people who make these products.
